I won an award for being myself!

I only went and won, didn’t I?

Last Friday I made my way to Coombe Abbey in Warwickshire with my lovely, supportive hubster Bruce for the Woman Who Achieves awards.
I haven’t managed to get to one of these prestigious events before, having only really been doing the networking ‘thing’ for about the past 18 months properly. What a great decision that was!

When the opportunity to apply for the awards arose and I finally overcame my monkey mind – check out this blog here to find out more – I never dreamed for a moment that I might actually win!

What an absolutely wonderful day

full of celebrations of women (and a handful of men) in business. Every single person in the room got their moment on stage, regardless of whether they were a finalist, or not. Such a wonderful way to celebrate all that’s been achieved.

Business can be hard! Growing a business, marketing a business, understanding how to be a business owner – it’s a HUGE learning curve, and not always one we’re prepared for. And often, the feeling is that we have to do it alone – that’s really tough!

When I pivoted my business in 2020 I began retraining as a coach.

I owned my published author status, and reclaimed my gift of activating the desire for change in others. I had no idea how tough I would find it to get ‘out there’. Introduced to so many different approaches I could use to connect with others – but there was an overwhelming feeling of being ‘not enough’.

Still standing, stronger and shining brighter than ever, knowing the enormity of the life lessons I’ve overcome (there have been many!) – I still held this feeling that others have had it harder than me. Or done better than me, overcome more. I’ve seen them ‘appear’ more successful in achieving their goals, living a lifestyle that demonstrates financial success, seeing the impact they’re making and think to myself ‘that hasn’t happened for me yet’.

Yet is a very powerful word, by the way!

I love awards ceremonies like last weeks. It isn’t just about the fact that I won an award. Nor is it all about the financial success, client results, going from 1 client to 100 in 3 months or anything like that. Of course there are those impactful stories of overnight shifts, they are always so inspiring to hear. I was told by one of my interview panel judges that their brief was to find the women who stood out, who made a lasting impression – and that’s exactly how they felt when my interview was finished.

I can remember her words ‘you just gave me serious goosebumps’.

As I came out of the interview, I felt happy and confident that I had shown up as 100% myself, no airs and graces, just honestly sharing my journey. The challenges, the wins – and all in between. So I always knew that whether I won an award or not, I had most definitely stood in my power, doing what I hope to model for others.

I had been authentically me – and that was always going to be enough.
OMG I WON AN AWARD!!! Can you pinch me??!!
