As someone who finds myself easily distracted (I’m working on it), I say this with love. I often have several scattered parts of things left waiting to be finished and dealt with.
Today, however, I made myself the commitment to get my blog posts and already shared content organised into some kind of database (yawn, spreadsheets!)
Then something came along on a social media post (as these things do from time to time) that really ruffled my feathers. All of a sudden the energy behind my words felt yucky, I didn’t feel I was going to do what I set out to achieve, and then I began to judge myself.
I judged myself for being angry about something
I judged myself for not getting the thing done
which I sat down to do
I judged myself for being human, basically.
All judgement does is muddy the waters and stops us from seeing clearly. The filter of what we are doing gets so clogged up that we don’t see it through clean, loving eyes and it changes our experience and our perception, which is never good.
There’s a really great book to help you work your way through having a judgemental mindset, it’s called Judgement Detox by Gabby Bernstein – check it out here.

What I realised I really needed to do
as a result, was work through some of the emotional ‘stuff’.
This helped me start to see what it was that I needed to learn or see differently and then I would be able to get on with the rest of my day.
All too often we let ourselves get hung up or stuck in negative thinking, focusing on the failures or the shortfalls and this stops us from being in a receptive, high vibe energy.
Why would we allow something we hadn’t anticipated do this to us?
We don’t need to – but what we can do instead is stay open minded to what we are supposed to be learning from the new awareness or perspective.
Maybe the message to me was stay off social media when I have important things to do! Maybe the lesson was to focus on what I set out to do and stop getting distracted! (These are perhaps both lessons I am yet to master).
Whatever it might have been, I’m happy to report that a while later on the same day, I’m feeling much more focused on doing what I’m set out to do – I hope it has helped you to see the same possibilities are available.
One thing I do know is that journalling is a great way to clear the fog – take a look at my online programme Mirror Moments which is super affordable and helps you get to grips with making journalling part of your regular routine – if that is what you’re hoping to do. You can take a look at that here.
